Hey there. My name is Reimu Hakurei (博麗霊夢 Hakurei Reimu). I am the main character in the Touhou series of fantasy-themed manic shoot 'em ups created by a single member of Team Shanghai Alice, ZUN. I am the core character to Psonic X Touhou, and the character from the series to appear and the next one is my partner Marisa Kirisame.
My Backstory[]
Not much is known about my history prior to the events of the games. ZUN does mention in one of his Shanghai Alice Correspondence documents that there was a previous Hakurei Shrine Maiden, and it's generally assumed that there's a line of them.
With night's darkness fast approaching, I remark, "Believe not they will be around for you always: parents and daylight". The quote was thought to imply that I knew my parents, but they're gone and I'm rather bitter about it. However, my line was modified from a haiku about the transient, changing nature of things, the original subjects being parents and more. This indicates it was not likely to be a reference to my parents, after all.
My Personality[]
I am straightforward, optimistic, and a bit curious. I am quick to anger if offended, but just as quick to offer help to those in need. According to Komachi, I have an innocent heart that can't truly hate anyone. While rather lazy in my free time, I am highly devoted to my duties as the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, resulting in a "shoot first and ask questions later" attitude to youkai extermination.
It's been stated that I treat everyone the same, whether they're humans, youkai or gods, giving them no particular respect or disrespect. This habit has caused me to inadvertently befriend many youkais I defeat. While I try to keep youkai away from my shrine, this is because it makes it harder to do my job rather than because I dislike them. At the end of the symposium in Symposium of Post-mysticism, when I go to break it up, Miko notes that though I say I want to eliminate all the youkai, I actually just want to attain a peace in Gensokyo that doesn't require violence, like the others present wish.
My Design and Appearance[]
Tier 1[]
I have brown-black hair which varies in length and style, though I still wear a red ribbon and matching tubes on my side-locks. I'm still seen in my cute "miko uniform", but it now bears little in common with the standard uniform beyond the red-and-white color scheme. My clothing consists of a red skirt (rather than the standard hakama), a sleeveless red top with a white collar, tied with a blue ribbon, and a pair of white detached sleeves which expose my armpits, sarashi, my white puffy socks and black Mary Jane shoes. Due to the color scheme, I'm occasionally called the "red and white miko".

I throw out a bundle of talismans that flies in a straight line. If I equip it to up, it shoots upward, and if I equip it to down, it shoots downward. It has good bullet speed and good damage, so it's a really all-around move that doesn't have much weakness except its consumption. |

I throw out several talismans, and create a barrier using them as the corners. The barrier itself, being huge and strong, can be troublesome, but one fault is that the amulets forming the corners are weak points, and destroying them will simply erase the barrier. |

Also known as a somersault, a quick kick upwards from a back flip. Kicking an opponent who's high in the air is easy. In this air battle, you can go down below the opponent, so it's an indispensable and aggressive move. |

With the first input it places a marker with the second use you warp to the marker and assault with a dive kick. If the marker is in a low position, I'll warp from below to the sky above. I can make fun of my opponent with this movement that completely disregards the laws of physics. |

I strongly throw a yin-yang orb that bounces off the floor and the ceiling. Its speed is slow, but when it passes through the barrier established with a strong forward shot, it'll accelerate and become a Super Yin-Yang Shot. |

A frontal shot that fires amulets which then divide into small bullets and shoot forward over a wide area. They're weak after spreading out, but it can be an important move, since the quantity of them provides cover and she can use the time delay to launch additional attacks. |
| Floating Wall Jump | +

By making a foothold with a barrier in midair, I can do a body-slam with a potentially irregular trajectory. By pressing any button, I can change the timing and trajectory of my second jump. |

The ones who jump into this attack are, without fail, attacked back instead, but after the declaration, people will often aim to bring about a counterattack; however, the world doesn't work out that well. |
